International Fun Day: Okura Kaigan

May 22, 2010 07:08 by janina

Not sure whether the slugs or the ice cream was the highlight. Spot mad boy swimming in his clothes (no he didn't have a change of clothes or a towel!). One of the kids commented, "That's what Bilingual School is all about. We'd never be allowed to do this on a shougakko trip". Hmmmm... Let's hope parents see it as a positive too :-)

International Fun Day: Let's Go Climb a Mountain!

April 17, 2010 12:00 by justin

On Saturday we went walking on Funday. We were tired after all the walking, but we had a lot of fun.

We went up hills!

And down hills!

Let's go walking!

Time for a lunch break!

After we all recharged, it was time to walk some more!

Are we there yet?!?!

We made it!

Can you see your house?

We had a lot of fun on this thing!

Upper School Orientation

March 24, 2010 01:58 by janina

There are lots of children moving from the lower school to the upper school this April, and we have some new friends who have joined us as new upper school students too. So we had a one day orientation to get to know each other. We had lots of fun and we learned a lot too. Some highlights...

We started with some team building games. Can we all get on the blue tarp as it gets smaller and smaller? Spot the crazy teacher cheerleading the tower building!

We had a "make your own sandwich" lunch party. Yum!

We played hide and seek indoors as it was raining too hard to go to the park.

Of course, we studied and played word/phonics games.

And we did craft too. Look at our new school window. Read all about us!

International Fun Day: Ice Skating

February 22, 2010 00:23 by janina

We went ice skating in honor of the winter olympics. Some of us are already good at it, and some of us are first timers! Good job everyone though.

Pancake Day

February 16, 2010 04:35 by janina

It's Pancake Day in England and the UK today. We made and ate pancakes for lunch (but seem to have lost the photos!). And then we went to the park and had pancake races (with our playdough pancakes we had made earlier).

Japanese class today so we celebrated Settsubun and had a sushi lunch. Good times!

Summer School: Day Nine

August 6, 2009 06:25 by janina

Our first activity was very exciting. We went to the park to see Justin launch the rocket he had built for us. After the first unsuccessful try, it went right over the park! Oooooh... it was super!

Rocket fuel...

Pumping it up....

It's off!

See it go.

Found it!

Back at school.Making our programs for our parents.

Shared reading.

Reading by ourselves.

Finding things we like on the computer...

Meanwhile, downstairs, we are still hard at work. When there's a choice between tables and the floor, we usually choose the floor!

Summer School: Day Eight

August 5, 2009 07:01 by janina

It's the School Trip. And we got our own private bus. Far out!

A KOBILS invasion!

It's all over. Back to School.

Summer School: Day Seven

August 4, 2009 04:31 by janina

Astronaut, astronaut, where have you been? I've been to...

Alien slime invasion...

Meanwhile downstairs we are seriously studying, preparing our research projects...

We also played a Yes/No space fact game. Space knowledge getting better and better!

And we even got a break in the park. Planet (fruit) basket with some new rules.

Meanwhile upstairs we had singing and dancing...

And kakigori... shaved ice. Choose from Saturn yellow, Mars red, Uranus blue, or Neptune green. Yum!

Summer School: Day Six

Lower School marshmallow and spaghetti space stations.

Obstacle race.
